Yeah, you're right - the Australian is the only player we're signing. Apparently the announcements about Ryan Boyle, Jodie Broughton, Ashley Gibson, Matty Smith and Ste Tyrer were all just part of an elaborate hoax.

We've lost 9 players from the first team squad and added 8 (inc. 2 promoted fro the Academy). Don't see the problem personally.

I know some people reckon we've not recruited the same quality as we've lost but there's no saying that Wilshere, Stapo, et al would've been as good this year, nor can we fairly assess the quality of our new signings until we see them play.

Considering the current financial climate I'm actually quite happy with our recruitment/retention.

 Love him or hate him, 163 consecutive appearances should make Stuart Littler a Salford legend in anyone's book

I agree totally we have started trimming down the old guard and replaced them with players who have a point to prove and will perform that way.

I think the big difference as we approach a new season is that expectations on here are lower than other years. In past seasons I've read about new signings and often been disappointed - particularly with some of our overseas signings. This year I feel that we've signed a lot of players with a point to prove. If half of them prove to be better than other people expected them to be we won't be too badly off.

I also think that we have another "new" player in Willie Talau, who played a mere handful of games for us last year. Of all the signings we made at the start of last season he was the one I was most looking forward to, and on the rare occasions we saw him he looked class. I really hope he has an injury free season and I'm sure if that happens he will help us to be more succesful.

In Henry, Talau, Ratchford, Cashmere, Swain, Leuluai, Alker, Adamson, and Sidlow we have retained some quality and we have to hope that the old faithfuls and the newcomers help us to a more mid-table place.

Ken Gill could make the ball talk.

On the 36 bus into Swinton this morning there was a couple discussing Salfords signings for 2010 and as they were on the front row and I was at the back I may have misheard what they were saying- The gist of it was that we were after Mason, now it could be Willie or Perry but Steve Simms is on the case and just then they got off the bus.

They had two M & S Bags (Bags for Life) so there is also a possibility of M & S becoming our new sponsor.
