Mills went from virtual ever present in 2008 to anonimity the following season.
He always did his bit in defence , but as stated elsewhere we all expected a few more yards from such a big bloke.

As Gordon Gecko rightly points out reserve team rugby isn't always the best place to showcase ability.

If we don't have another prop lined up, id keep him, he has good experience for a back up prop, if we do however, i'd let him go...............

Yes it is true to say he doesn't carry himself particularly well, but his form when getting his new contract was pretty decent. I defy anyone to use last seasons reserve grade as a form guide as the standard was dire and as a result his confidence suffered greatly because the players around him were not good enough. When called upon in the first team at Bradford and Huddersfield i thought he went pretty well and his size alone made him a valuable asset to the team. For whatever reason Justin clearly doesn't want him (which as coach is his right i might add), but i get heartily sick of British players getting cast aside in favour of pretty average aussies and this is no exception.

In fairness to Morgan and Rovers Clinton in and Mills out is a no brainer. Clinton might have had two bad season by his high standards and Mills is not as bad as people make out. Still it's a considerable trade up.

But Clinton isn't here to replace Mills. Rovers have lost Fozzard and Aizue if they lose Mills they will still be 2 props down on last season. There is no reason on earth to offload Mills.

You were the one saying you are fed up with average Aussies replacing British players so make your mind up!

I was under the impression there was another prop coming in too?

If there isn't then yes I agree I would have kept Mills.

Are you really that stupid Paul??????

The story and thread was about Mills being offloaded to make way for Clinton. I was arguing a case for this not to happen.

Comprende!!!

Well you seem to contradict yourself.

Firstly you said ''but i get heartily sick of British players getting cast aside in favour of pretty average aussies and this is no exception''.

Then you said ''Clinton is not a direct replacement for Mills''.

Whichever way you look at it if Clinton was not coming then Mils would probably be staying, so make your mind up.

I's about having the best squad and staying within the rules, any coach in Sl would offload Mills and take Clinton. It's not like Mills has not had chances at Rovers and other clubs. I think he is not that bad a player and his size is useful especially off the bench. However why would Morgan refuse the chance to sign a good prop in favour of keeping an average British prop?

Paul you don't get it.

My point is that because Rovers have signed an aussie prop the media and certain sections of fans automatically think that a British player is being offloaded. Remember Rovers have lost Fozzard and Aizue. Clinton should be coming to plug that gap NOT at the expense of someone who is still here.

Its not Clinton for Mills, its Clinton for Fozzard/Aizue. There is no reason on earth for Rovers to offload Mills either team structure wise of financially. The story should never have been printed.

Yes i am heartily sick of the perception that everything antipodean is better than British. Clinton, and O'Meley for that matter, have been in decline in aussie for the past few years yet everyone on here wets their pants and knocks one out everytime they talk about them.
