I understand the BNP staged a conference at the Legends Bar, Hindley Green, Wigan on Sat 14/11/09. Can anyone confirm if this facility is owned by Martin Roden whom I believe is employed by Oldham Roughyeds?
I hope the latter is incorrect as even if Martin Roden does not follow the BNP he is now implicated by association (finance gain for the use of the facility). The association does not bear well as he represents a team from a predominately ethnic minority area and can only have detrimental effect on the community whom Oldham are reliant upon to have a viable future.
Free speech isn’t a problem as long as it is constructive and justified. My reasons for posting this thread is with regard to the damaging effect it will have on Oldham Roughyeds if an employee is associated with the BNP.

Why would it be damaging ?
Unless lawless hoodlums would try to make something out of it by having a go at some one who they suspected was a member of the BNP in which case the matter should be handed over to the Police who would leap into action like a coiled spring, NOT!!!
Rupert Bear, I think you're fishing for an immature reponse.
Oldham Roughyeds may have a brighter future if it attracted support from the large communities with heritage from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and parts of the Caribbean who have now settled in Oldham (like myself).

Im sorry, but this is just daft, you dont want anything to do with your club bacause one on thier employees MAY have some political views related to a recognised political party who hols parlimentary seats? its like saying you will have nothing to do with politics becasuse there are parties involved who you dont agree with, or for that matter refusing to go to your local chippy because they think haddock is better than cod.
Im playing devils advocate, but really, c'mon. Love your club, support them, take the rest up in the local pub or something.
Anyways, I wish you guys at Oldham good luck on the field next year, look forward to your visit to Blackpool!
