If Wigan RL travelled to London and beyond 6 times a year (chelsea, fulham, arsenal, spurs, portsmouth and West Ham)* with each ticket over £20 - i'd love to see theb numbers that went
*add to that the fact that the local games all cost around £40 a ticket.

Good point, don't know why people mock them for their support. Yeah its the biggest sport in the world, the biggest league, has 10 million times more exposure than RL but they are only Wiganers at the end of the day, the fans aren't any richer. We only have Celtic and Quins that are that distance. Actually Perpignan itself prob cost the equivalent of 4 prem games, so perhaps the comparison is even!

I take issue with this on two fronts.
Firstly - that they are Wiganers at all.
Secondly - that even if they are Wiganers, this is some kind of excuse not to attend matches. In general, I doubt that Wiganers are poorer than the fans of most other Premiership clubs, given that the majority of them are located in inner city areas.
