So baring in mind that superleague attendances have gone up over the 8 years too i'd be interested to know relatively what rovers would have averaged in 2001 if they were in SL. Roughly 6421 is half of our most recent average, meaning that rovers would average half of 8000. You'd still have been behind us for gates back then!

Even by your standards mate that is a laughable way to work things out.

Why? The original poster didnt mentioned the external factors like SL increasing gates right across the board. If you work the increase out to FC's gate based on SL increases and then work the % back for rovers its not that laughable is it? We've always had a bigger fan base and im pretty sure someone has posted before that in the 80s we always had bigger average gates too.

If we are doing it your way i want Rovers potential crowd back in 2001 compared to Bradfords percentage change over the same period.

Last time Rovers had a bigger average attendance than Hull FC was 1977-78 (5,112 for Hull and 5,352 for Rovers). Hull were relegated that season. The following year (our 100% season) we averaged 6,853 in Division 2 whilst Rovers averaged 5,945 in winning the Division 1 Championship.

Even in their back to back Championships in the mid 80s Rovers averaged under 7,000.

Taken from Rothmans yearbook, they are usually correct unless you can prove otherwise.

They are usually right. I know our crowds dropped year on year in the 80s from a peak of about 8900 in 82/83ish but didnt realise they had dropped that steeply.
