In fairness to Wayne Bridge, he's useless at club level too.
He clearly isn't ready for international level football. On his day Brown is a very good defender but this is not it. I know it's only a friendly but he has been picked based on his club not his form.

From his wikipedia page:
Wesley Michael "Wes" Brown (born 13 October 1979) is an English football player who plays as a defender for Premier League side Manchester United, and the England national teamalthough he hardly plays for either as he is dogsit at football.

I'm not talking about his maturity I'm talking about a matter of form and fitness. I think when he is at the top of his game he can be good enough although he might not be the top defender in the country in a friendly or pressure free game he is dependable. At the moment he has come back from a long layoff and like most of United's defence hasn't been playing well. He shouldn't be in the England team that being the case.

Well, the first part of Ireland's job is done. Interesting to see what happens from here. Fantastic performance from Ireland, poor performance from France.
Part of me wants France to go through for the sake of Anelka and Malouda, but part of me wouldn't mind if they went out so they got a rest.
I think the FIFA fiasco of seeding because Portugal and France were in the play offs though makes me want Ireland to win.
