Doubtful. Their fixed assets are less than £1m.

Gavin Miller - Legend wrote:Hi Mr Hudgell, so in a nutshell you are saying that the club is in a viable position, and as an aside you go on to say that super league clubs on average are over half a million in debt, are Hkr average then? Following on from last years job cuts, the abandoning of warm weather training and this years resignation of Mr Blanchard do you not see where all these rumours start with regard to your financial position?

The club remains viable whilst the current board remains in place

Good and bad in that reply.
Neil and Rob wont see the club come to any harm of that i am 100% sure.
But it does make the need to become self sufficent very important

Problem is that it's really difficult. Realistically there's only Leeds and Hull that have a viable business model, due to crowds of 13,000+ and cracking retail operations (someting the Hetheringtons have certainly prioritised effectively between them as it's a license to print money if you get it right). Wigan's accounts are a bag of spanners despite their high gates and most clubs make losses similar to Rovers. Huddersfield lost over £1m in 2008 but are bankrolled by Davy.

IMO the financial health of the sport is pretty poor. To have only 2 clubs as viable financial entities (and Hull still have debt of £1.4m despite 5 years of profit) isn't great. The salary cap has evened up the competition, no doubt, but perhaps has caused some clubs to overstretch themselves.

but don't you think a problem has been the removal of the 50% rule?

I think the North Stand is the KEY to it really.
Rovers sell out the hospitality for every game and people miss out.
It should make CP a more welcome place also for visiting fans as that has been one of my biggest disapointments in our SL era that other clubs dont bring enough support with them.
Regular 10000 gates would follow with that in place along with an extended East stand

Quite possibly. The problem is that even with Sky money virtually all clubs are loss-making. Also, in terms of evening the competition up, although there may be more "surprise" results in the regular rounds, the last team other than Leeds and Saints to contest a Grand Final was....Hull FC. Seems like a lifetime ago.

Hull FC have had the same problem, and we're in a new stadium.

Rovers need to expand good quality capacity for home fans, for sure. Friday nights or Sunday afternoons, away support at the KC is poor considering it's covered seating (albeit expensive) and I wouldn't imagine it would be much better at CP. People are just lazy about travelling to East Yorkshire.

I would say the financial health of most british sports is pretty poor.

If you only knew the POWER of the dark side.
