Wouldnt mind an old Newton-esque flat pass to Feka on the try line. Im sure if he hit it at pace he'd leave a "looney tunes" style hole in the defensive line.... More so if Bitcon, Maguire and Wane have their way with the new preseason routine!
Celtic Crusaders as the first game is a disappointment in terms of trying to attract a big crowd. I would have liked a team with a big away support - Warrington or Hull KR being ideal.
Still it could be marketed well as Brian Noble v Michael MaGuire. I would have some really cheap family deal offers for the North stand and invite some of the amateur clubs down.

Bingo!
The way I see it, if this game had been mid-season we would have struggled to get a decent crowd. With it being the first game of the season many people will turn up for that very reason.

If we market it right old against new we could get a decent crowd.
You can market anything all you want, but people are only going to spend money to watch a good match. This isn't going to happen with a worse than last season Crusaders. I expect a pish poor 11,000 for opening day.

Normally that would be true BUT with it being the first game + Nobles return we should be able 2 generate a high crowd!
Put a few cheap taster deals out, get the schools and local teams involved and we could be looking at 16k which would be very good for a Celtic game!
Never underestimate the first game of the season. A lot of people have high hopes for next season and will want 2 see how it looks

Perhaps they have given Crusaders a game against a team they have previously beaten to see if they can build some early season confidence.
