Truth is Bradford miss him, and have gone downhill as they have relied on him when in truth he's mostly been injured.

When fit, he can still do a very good job.

Correct on all counts.
He always played well for GB / England. If you want someone to "get you round the park" (whatever that means) Deacon is as good as anyone.

His only problem IMO was his lack of pace.

He would do a good job as cover for the half backs and goal kicker, and also help to develop Sam, Joe Mellor and Sam Powell.

SAINTS THE ORIGINAL AND PERENNIAL CHEATS

For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled.

For 27 - 0 you get a trophy
For 75 - 0 you get sod all.

Wigan had eight in a row
Saints have five in a row

He's a huge lad for me. I'd guess he's about 6ft 3 and 17-18 stones which is pretty big. He's bigger then the likes of Fielden and James Graham and plenty more besides.

Upper body he might have, but his legs are like match sticks. I would be surprised though if he was 17 - 18 stone. I would say more like 16 for me. Fielden is around the 17 - 18 stone mark, Feka is too. Not too sure about Coley though.

As for Deacon quality player with bags full of expertise get him 2 year deal, coaching role and a support part in the first team. Quality I always though we should have got him earlier on in his career

Feka will be nearer 20. He was 17/18 stone when he came.

Got to say this is a top signing

For me he is too injury prone and too slow.

A poor mans Danny Brough. He is a good organiser but for me it would be a very negative signing, he does not improve on what we have.

I would hope to see more guidance from Piggy and Locky next year when it comes to directing us round the park under our new coach. Do not think we need to pay Deacon to sit in the stands.

Unofficially the most boring poster on Cherry and White.

He is is paid from a coaching pot then it would be ok

But if he counts on the salary cap then it is a fairly pointless use of space on the cap.

Well if he's in the squad and available for selection then he counts on the cap.

An organiser is what we do not have so as an orgnaniser I fail to see where he cannot improve us?

He won't only sit in the stands he'll be here 2 coach as well.

I like this signing as he'll give us options! No more musical chairs or Lockers /Gleeson at 6 when we get injuries.

IL knows our cap space and I'll doubt Deacon will take up much space

My sentiments exactly.

He's past it end of.

The only role I'd except him to be signed for would be if he were to coach are halfbacks.

Wigan vs Leeds finals aggregate score.

Wigan 178 - 64 Leeds

Wigan wins - 6 Leeds wins - 0

I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass, and I am all out of bubblegum.

Don't you struggle. Don't you fight. Don't you worry, cause it's your turn tonight!

Put it this way, if Lenagan can bring in Deacon as cover at halfback and also bring a prop in with one going out either on loan or permanently then we're very looking very good.
