I know SKY don't like it, but I think the best way to view it is with the league and playoffs as two separate competitions. Finishing 4th in the league is a good achievement, finishing 6th in the playoffs not so much.
It's a good point about the league placings having more validity nowadays with a straightforward fixture list. I'd like to see more kudos given to the team finishing top as a result.

of course we didnt win more than you,( execpt games that is, )
but for us to finish 4th is a very good season. if at the start of the season i said wed finish 4th most people would have sectioned me.......

Think you'll find Rovers won £xxxxx amount of prize money for their 4th/6th place finish, Hull didn't get any prize money so effectively finished joint last in the competition
