To defend Welham a little bit here he's only a young lad. I think if he develops he could make the GB team in the future. He absolutely isnt ready yet but i think he's a decent lad with a lot of promise.

At the start of this season i dont think that many people would have predicted that he would have featured in all 29 of our Super League and play-off games, scoring 13 tries in the process, but his hard work and rapid rate of improvement ensured that he did.
He isnt of international standard. However, lets be totally honest we are not awash with international standard centres and i would suggest that the two that played on saturday certainly are not (although Shenton has the potential in my opinion to develop into one).
With that in mind, if Welham continues with his current rate of progression who is to say that he wont be in contention in 1 or 2 years time?

Spot on. Ive said on this site before that in 2 or 3 years the 2 England centres could be a combination of Briscoe, Welham and Hall.

Add Shenton and Atkins to that list and our centre options will be far better than they have been for years.

Agreed, providing our lads actually progress. Dont get me wrong its still going to be a big ask putting any of them against Inglis but it looks exciting with the right development.

Based on his good form this season, I think he was unlucky not to get called up to the train on squad, if he backs it up with another good season I think he will at least get that far

Isnt that more to do with Walker being either poor or injured?

I have to agree with your other points though

Welham is solid enough, but doesnt have the strenght or attcaking flair to make a top SL centre. Their are much better younger centres out there than him.
