Had assumed he meant the only other player on the books not have had his future officially confirmed one way or the other.

I'm sure with a little more effort he could have said something more positive - how about one of the best centres in the SL for example.

'Conclusion', 'ludicrous' and 'leap to' are four words that spring to mind.

Do you think perhaps you'd be a better person to judge?

Have you seen Carmont play more often than IL? Were you involved in the scouting mission that uncovered him? Did you do the due diligence before he was signed? Do you have access to his medical records, his family affairs, his personal ambitions and feelings? What do your day-to-day discussions with Carmont reveal to you about his personality? Hell, what do your day-to-day discussions with Lenagan tell you about his? Or do you genuinely believe that the occasional quote given in a press release is more than enough to form an accurate picture? Think more carefully before you answer that one than you did before making your previous two posts.

Brilliant news regarding Carmont. I would have been absolutely gutted had he left.

One of our best overseas players for years IMO.

I think it will be for the players above a certain age but in regards for all members of the squad I don't think it's a practice we'll role out club wide.

I think the players he sees as key to our long term goals i.e. Lockers, Sam, Pat, Prescott, Joel & Tommy will all get three + year deals. Tommy and Pat have already signed such deals under IL and Sam has signed a four year one as well.

It’s defiantly the way forward we keep the good young core of our squad together and the very few players we have on our books who are 30+ are kept on deals which are good for the club.

Every year that passes under IL guidance you get the sense that he’s trying to level the wage structure at the club and moving away from the top heavy structure we had in place under MO.

We can all rest abit easier now Carmont has signed. I had visions of this running on and on for a good couple of months and that would have been a real nail biting time because we need the guy. He's been a superb signing for us and is a leader aswell as a good player. The partnership he's built up with Richards(or Ainscough aswell to be fair) has been special and it's great to know that can continue.

As for Phil Bailey i'd also let him leave and use his cap space incase any players of note become available. I suppose we'd always have the option of signing him up somewhere down the line if needs be because i can't see any other clubs touching him until he's over this injury.

I'd let him leave as well.

If we sign a new prop and are unsure of how some of our youngsters like Farrell or Mossop will go in the 2nd row Coley can always fill in there for next season.

It doesn't make sense to re sign Phil Bailey. If we need another old head then let’s sign a prop with those qualities then even if it's for one year instead of resigning Bailey.

Carmonts deal (regarding appearances) may be tied in with how he recovers from the shoulder injury he has been carrying this year, I heard it requires surgery. I expect a similar deal with Bailey.

What are the odds Carmont just misses out on activating the clause for his 1yr extension...
