Ron Parkes, a former member of F/Reds passed away in July this year, his family have donated £300 to F/Reds on Ron's behalf, which we are very grateful.
We are looking at doing a 2010 calender & we are looking for sponsors for each month page, the cost being £100 per page with business logo etc on page. If we get each month sponsored, it covers the cost of producing the calender & then all sales are profit, so if anyone or friends or families would like to sponsor, please P.M. me or anyone else from F/Reds.
F/Reds , as in the past sponsor a player from the academy/reserves. It has been decided to sponsor Jack Spencer, who is a Salford lad who has come through the amateur ranks in Salford & made a couple of appearances in the 1st team towards the end of the season.
If anyone is still confused about the "membership/season tickets, drop me a P.M. or speak to Amanda in the club shop, who can explain. By all accounts, they are selling quite well.(take a look at Huddersfield or H.K.R.'s application forms if you think ours are confusing)
Last year it cost me £375 for mine Alans & grandkids. this time it has cost me £297 for the same + take into account gate price increase, so no one is getting ripped off.
Next up, guests Howard Clague & Ian Watson, club directors + Laura, the R.L representative at Supporters Direct answered questions.
Howard & Ian were asked about new signings, as a lot of experienced players have left the club & we appear to be only picking youngsters up & on loan.
Howard answered we are blooding young players, picking players who are falling out of other squads, not neccasary because they are not good enough, but clubs like Saints, Wigan & Leeds have an abundance of young players, too many to all get in their respective teams, so we are virtually cherry picking them. We all know that the club is not in financial situation we would like to be in, so we have to very shrewd with the money. The club has also been accused of bringing in players from the NRL who fans say are past it, so we are trying to move away from that. the franchise system is all about bringing youth through, so we are doing that.
The club is looking to put more into the coaching set up aswell.
They were both asked if the club did try to keep Myler, they answered , yes. Myler wanted to go to Warrington & probably came to Salford as a stepping stone to showcase himself to S.L. If we had not sold him now, we would have ended up getting nothing for him next season, so it was good business for the club in the end.
They were then asked about Jordan going, said that was his decision, he was offered a new improved contract, but had his own reasons for going & we are presently preparing to go to tribunal for a fee for Jordan as he was part of our future plans.
Wilshire & Stapleton were offered contracts but turned them down, & club felt Nash had not progressed this season.
Laura from Supporters Direct is trying to organise a Rugby Festival on 27th November at Milnrow, it is for Tag rugby 7's, but each team has got to have 2 females in the team on the pitch at all times, if anyone interested, let us know.
Laura is 6 months into a 3 year contract & hopefully, it will go on from there..
NOW, you will be all wondering if there was any stadium news, at the moment, lots going on & as soon as something positive is available to be released by the club, it will be, but rest assured, THE STADIUM WILL BE BUILT!!!!!!!!
