in higher leagues your rewarded for success in competitions in the lower leagues the only reward you get is being 10 games behind the rest of the league by christmas.

Chaestown are probably the prime example when they reached the FA Cup 3rd Round (as a Southern League Midlands team...same level as you).
They just ran out of steam and missed out in the play offs when they were by far the best team in their league that season and they still have not gone up 3 seasons later (though they are now in the Unibond South due to reorganization).
