Winning, entertaining rugby through ability and effort.
WE WON IT AT WEMBLEY - AND THEN AGAIN AT WEMBLEY - AND THEN AGAIN AT WEMBLEY - AND THEN AGAIN AT WEMBLEY - AND THEN AGAIN AT WEMBLEY - AND THEN AGAIN AT WEMBLEY - AND THEN AGAIN AT WEMBLEY - AND THEN AGAIN AT WEMBLEY - EIGHT TIMES - WE WON IT EIGHT TIMES - (IN A ROW!)
You're perfectly entitled to your opinion, I personally don't think Maguire and Wane will accept anything less than giving 100% just like they will do in their own roles.
Shaun's done it before while in charge of the reserves afaik, i'm sure others know more about it than me.

They wont have much choice.
The players that do buy into the new methods will be ripping lumps out of them otherwise.
It's the only way a training session like that could work. If a group of people are taking it seriously then everyone has. There is no room for half arsed attempts in that environment.
Can you imagine trying to half tackle a rampaging Feka or slowly jogging into a full on Tommy Leuluai tackle?

Didn't SW say that the Wihan Way was Rough, Tough & Very Skillful?
The "boot room" mentality will do for me.
As Shanks said "First is First and second is nowhere".
If MM is to be the new Bill Shankly then that would make Shaun Wane as number two the next Bob Paisley.
There were six Championships and three European Cups for Bob.
So no pressure there Shaun!

So where has the wigan way been for the past 10 years?

Unfortunately, in the hands of people who didn't understand what "Wigan" means.
On top of that, we have had to completely rebuild the club from top to bottom, as we didn't have the necessary facilities.
Add to that the fact that people like Millward, Hughes and Goodway ripped the heart out of our team and Lindsay left us so far up the swanny in respect of the salary cap that it has taken until now to get the structures right (and it will be the end of 2010 before we finally stop feeling the pinch of Uncle Mo's generosity in the contract department).
Nobby was the man to rebuild the structure of the club - SW & MM are the team to bring back the passion, effort and commitment.

I know what you mean but technically the club was in the hands of Mo who knew more than anybody what the ‘Wigan way’ is.
We’ve just had a bad time of things as of late but no matter how bad it’s been we can honestly say it’s never been as bad as some of the other clubs in SL like Hudds, Wakey and Salford who have always been and always will be 2nd rate clubs.

Trouble is, as much as he was reputed to like "interfering", Mo didn't prepare the players for game-days.
The "people" that I was referring to are the likes of Nobby, Veivers, Forshaw, Millward, etc.
These are the people responsible for the lack of passion, commitment, effort, fitness, (skill?), etc. that seems to be rife in our club.
We now have a boot-room that understands skill, passion, commitment and conditioning and I hope to see big changes in both physiques and attitudes next season.
