This is utter twonk. 2004 and 2008/9 aside, FC's injury list has been about average, so how do you explain the first team opportunities given to Cooke, R Horne, King, Yeaman, G Horne, Whiting, Radford, Washbrook, Lee, Houghton, Hall. All debuted before the last 2 seasons with high injury levels. Was it by chance that these players were brought through, then?

In the last 2 or three seasons Super League has become a much more physically demanding sport.
If you look at the number of younger players they are being blooded later and once blooded are utilised sparingly.

OK.

I would be annoyed if you got Clinton, you would instantly have the best looking player in SL.

A bit of a sweeping generalisation. At Cas, for example, Richard Owen and Joe Westerman, both 19, played 23 and 25 games respectively this year and 24 and 25 games each last year.

I must admit its very commendable that they decided to play all this homegrown talent at the expense of actually winning any games this year, lets face it FC would not have 'blooded' so many young players had they had a full squad available. In fact for a team that has bragged so much about nurturing the youth and fielding full english teams how come they have resorted to going to full quota this year? surely they would just use all this academy talent.

Also wasn't the Briscoes brought from Featherstone, Dennis Tuffour from London, did they just swim into the rich Hull fishing ground.

Also if I'm not correct aren't some of the so called golden crop now being blamed for bringing the club to its knees, King, G.Horne, Lee, Radford(Cooke) all these players we are led to believe should have been shipped out years ago, bad attitude, drinking culture etc Yeaman and R.Horne have never been good enough if we're to believe some of your fans...

I said he would perhaps get oppotunities. Can you only read what you want to see. :!:

You then tried to claim that FC are no better. In the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary, whether the 5 players listed who debuted at a young age and have gone on to play many times or then going back to 2000 for the Horne/Cooke/King examples, you then say that FC only blood young players when there's an injury crisis.

Using the examples i gave Maloney / Hodgson it is no different to the Rovers players you brought up.
I made no mention of 2000 so why are you.

This is utter twonk. 2004 and 2008/9 aside, FC's injury list has been about average, so how do you explain the first team opportunities given to Cooke, R Horne, King, Yeaman, G Horne, Whiting, Radford, Washbrook,

G Horne was never more then a fringe squad player. Whiting as yet has to nail down a starting position he can call his own.
Washbrook i will give you but Radford made how many appearances before he jumped ship to Bradford :D

Lee, Houghton, Hall. All debuted before the last 2 seasons with high injury levels. Was it by chance that these players were brought through, then?

Based on these facts YES

Houghton made 4 SL Apps during the whole of 2007.
All 4 as Sub.
The starting Hookers in those 4 games were Washbrook x2 Tommy Lee x2.
This was due to the fact that Richard Swain was injured and didnt appear that season after Round 16.

Hall made most of his 13 Apps in 07 at either Wing or Centre due to the Injuries to Matt Sing who never played after Round 22 and Sid Domic who never played after Round 17.

Tommy Lee made 17 Apps that season but between Rounds 1 -11 a certain Mr P Cooke Esq only played for you 4 times due to injury then left leaving a gaping hole in your squad.
And as previously mentioned he then had to help cover Swain's injury in the hooking role.

So indeed Injuries did speed up the need to throw those guys in.

Of they speeded it up. But to suggest that FC don't routinely give young players planned opportunities and players only get chances through injuries is madness.Combine the number of games Hall, Lee, Houghton, Briscoe and Burnett have played - surely you're not naive enough to suggest that this was all completely by accident? The only thing injuries have done (good of you to back me up in terms of what an impact they've had BTW) is to accelerate the plan.
Agar was talking a while ago about looking at opportunities for Jack Briscoe to debut. The difference between him saying this and Morgan's annual "giving the kids a chance" piece in January is that Agar at least is sincere. We both know there have been opportunities for Rovers to give young players opportunities through injuries or easy cup ties, but the preference time and again is to shift players round. That's down to choice.

Must have missed your clarification on "rectifying the mistake" of Mills BTW.

So he was talking about it a while ago...When did the talk come to reality.

So without those injuries those players would have been in the stands like Menzies, Esders etc.
Thanks for confirming that and have a think about it the next time you try to points score on here.
If Swain, Cooke,Sing, Domic etc etc etc had been available to play for Hull then those oppotunities would have have come their way.
Its not a bad thing by the way as i like to see young players coming through but to then try and have some moral high ground over it when they played predominantly because of injuries to senior pro's is silly on your part.
