IMO yes they could be the right coaching combination but were not going to win things without a few 'class' signings in the off season. Ill admit i am looking forward to next season but with us seemingly having no money to spend on new players i dont think we will make a final next season with this same squad that we have now. Look at Leeds, granted they won a title without these 2 players but since Brent Webb and Jamie Peac0ck have come into there squad (the 2 world class players they were short of) they have been become a true champion team. Had we had Trent Barrett and say Jamie Peac0ck playing for us last season with Tommy in at hooker and Sam at scrum half we would have won the league. I truely belive we are still 2-3 class players short of a complete team
My view is that even the current Wigan team under Brian Noble could have won both the Challenge Cup and the Grand Final this year. Huddersfield were there for the taking at Wembley, and Leeds were nothing special on Saturday (Saints were very off form, and even then it took a highly dodgy video ref decision to finish them off). If Wigan had been in either of those finals, and had played as well as they could, they'd have won (comfortably at Wembley, and probably after a slightly tougher tussle at OT).
Let's not kid ourselves that SL is some kind of incredible competition where only the best of the best can make good. If Leeds are the current benchmark, then next year's title is well within our reach assuming MM gives us the tactical overhaul that we expect, and injects some consistency.
