I know in your haste at attempted humour you never stop to consider facts.
Which is why your a constant form of amusement on this forum.
But Menzies was given a year to prove his credentials and failed.
The fact he is back in the National Leagues and not looked at by SL Clubs confirms Morgan made the correct decision.
Not too dis similar to Dominic Maloney in fact.
Esders was unlucky that he had the Dream Team 2nd row pairing in front of him and the fact he is being released indicates that Taylor is seen as the better long term prospect of the 2.
Spaven was not ready for SL based on what i saw of him last season and as Dobson was ever present the need of him to play never arose.
2010 will be his big year to prove he can kick on to become part of the 1st team.
Watts was loaned out to gain more 1st team experiance and build his confidence.
Not too dis similar to Craig Hall.
Morgan makes decisions about players rather then simply have fringe players taking up squad and cap space who are not good enough for numourous seasons.
Like Graham Horne in fact.
He does make mistakes like Mills getting 2 years but then he rectifies them.
Are you saying these players should play at the expense of players with more quality

totally agree GML, I'd also add from what I've seen of him so far I like the look of taylor and although it's always unpredictable how young players pan out in the future and I know he is pretty raw but I can see taylor becoming a regular in a few years if he continues improving at the rate he has so far.

Hull, by way of handy comparison, have Cusack, Dowes, O'Meley and Moa. Lauaki and Radford could be moved forward from the back row and may well be given the strength in depth there.
Assuming I haven't forgotten anybody we'd have 8 who can play there, Hull only 6. Signing Clinton would be about adding quality.
I have Mills down as no where near good enough and Watts as not ready yet from what i hear. That would leave Clinton, Vella, Lovegrove and Wheeldon. I'd have thought that feels 1 short with regards to have quality cover. (i'd imagine Wheeldon as 5th choice if you could bring another quality prop in)

I think it's interesting that everyone is declaring that Hodgson, for example, will become twice the player he is now because of how Morgan will "develop" him, when actually the young players in the squad, Welham apart, have scarcely been given an opportunity at first team level and as you say are routinely being farmed out on either a permanent or temporary basis. Watts is entering his 3rd season under Morgan and has played 3 times. It almost looks like he's in the squad solely to make up the homegrown quota numbers. Didn't realise Spaven was an out and out 7.
As I've said endlessly, Morgan is a very good coach and does gameplanning, tactics and getting the best out of what he has as well as any coach in SL. But the pipeline of homegrown talent ready for first team action can't be as full as you'd like it to be, as Morgan goes into his 5th season at the club, compared to, say, Cas or even Salford. I think his magical abilities are overstated in this area.
I assume from your comment that Mills is on his way, then.

Not at all. My point was that Esders, Watts, Spaven and Menzies have barely played for the first team. Where is that contradicted in GML's rambling list of excuses for Rovers failing to blood young players?

We're a top-four club so it's naturally it's going to be harder for a young player to break into a top side like ours than say a bottom-half side.
The academy thing (and Mrs B in particular) bore me to tears because it's all been said and done before, it's just bitter folk like Mrs B choose to trot out the same trype to deflect the harsh reality that we are superior.

Nearly as tedious as you saying making bold and contradictory statements then claiming to be "right". Quite how you can claim on the one hand Cooke is deadwood and by turn top class and have the front to claim some sort of integrity is staggering. Remember, one set of predictions in February. Unless you intend to do the usual, revise your "predictions" on a weekly basis and claim you were right all along.

How many of your young players would have made your first team if it hadn't been for your horrendous list (your words) then Mrs B ?

How many 17 year old props become 1st team at such a young age unless they are exceptional like Burgess or Graham.
Cas and Salford, yo-yo clubs or not had access to the SL pot of gold to enable them to progress young players whilst Rovers were still coming out of a CVA.
It takes longer then 3 seasons to see the production line come into effect and it will be 2012 at least before we start to see the full effect of us now competing with Hull for the young talent in the city.
