He wants two years with no strings attached and I think he wants this as that ties in with when his kids reach a certain point in their education. A one year deal means he would have to take his kids out of school at a very inconvenient time.
Now I know you can't run an RL club and sign players on that basis but I can see why he wants the two years.
Whether he should get two ought to depend on the expected development of younger centres at the club. If the club were anticipating one of them being given George's slot in 2011 then it can't really justify giving him a two year deal. If not then we have a hole to fill in 2011 so I'd rather stick with him.
He could of course offer to play for less in the 2nd year of the two year extension to see if that tempted the club. It would not tie up so much salary cap and allow him to share the centre spot with a younger player gradually easing the young player into the side.
I'd sooner have him on a two year deal than Bailey on the one year deal he has apparently got.
