I don't think he could do another 2 years at this level.
Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good - sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league - Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate - the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever - Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go - Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know - FIOS

If George thinks he can do 2 years then he can have a one year deal with a second year option in favour of Wigan, if he says he can do 2 years there should be no problem for his extension should there?
Current thoughts - Mago out or get running up them plantations, get fit or get rid. Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal. Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.

He wants two years with no strings attached and I think he wants this as that ties in with when his kids reach a certain point in their education. A one year deal means he would have to take his kids out of school at a very inconvenient time.
Now I know you can't run an RL club and sign players on that basis but I can see why he wants the two years.
Whether he should get two ought to depend on the expected development of younger centres at the club. If the club were anticipating one of them being given George's slot in 2011 then it can't really justify giving him a two year deal. If not then we have a hole to fill in 2011 so I'd rather stick with him.
He could of course offer to play for less in the 2nd year of the two year extension to see if that tempted the club. It would not tie up so much salary cap and allow him to share the centre spot with a younger player gradually easing the young player into the side.
I'd sooner have him on a two year deal than Bailey on the one year deal he has apparently got.

I have give my thoughts on my blog with regards to George Carmonts contract.
Quote:No Brainer - extend his contract. He is one of the best players in our squad and the best centre at the club and one of the best centres in super league. He is everything I expect of an overseas player. If he wants a bigger wage give him the reduced wage of Baileys original contract. He deserves it.
It would only be a one year option though for me for three reasons:
1. We have Darrell Goulding, Karl Pryce and at some point Ian Thornley who are coming through the ranks and you would hope one of them makes it!
2. He is slightly injury prone. That thigh has been giving him numerous problems throughout the season.
3. Age is not on his side. Although he didn't start his career till he was 26 he will be 32 when his contract is up for renewal in 2010.

Can't Warrington produce any kids of their own? They always seem to be trying to poach all the best players produced by Wigan amateur and schools rugby.
