I just hope we've got a plan B now to sign another player. Lote again?
George Carmont is more than just a class act whilst on the pitch. He is a consummate professional and his conduct as a pro is a great influence on not just junior members of our squad but junior members of the Wigan community.
On his day he is right up there with the very best and his body is in the state it is because of the gutsy performances he has put in whilst wearing the Wigan shirt.
A little bit of hypocrisy from me now.
I would not want Wigan to become a club that would offer a player purely out of gratitude and short sightedness as opposed to a contract offer that would enhance or stabilise the team.
At the same time however, I have a real soft spot for George and I would love to thank him to be rewarded financially toward the end of his career because of all the things he has done for us over the last two years.
Perhaps a 1 year contract with a higher wage than he is asking for should be offered. This would allow him to be better off financially and I would give us a cracking player for an extra year before a young lad is ready to step up?. Then we can re-consider for 2011 or he can get a contract elsewhere.
It’s a win, win situation.
