I agree that we need a couple of big props, but Vella was poor in the playoffs and wasn't carrying anybody (he did play in the centre for 70 mins of the Leeds game so I can't be too harsh!). Wheeldon was excellent against Wigan but he bizarrely only played one 25 minute spell and that was in the second half.

I guess my point where ive stuck up for Vella on other threads was that he was your main go forward prop for most of the season and by the playoffs he was knackered.

He was injured for a big chunk of the year - I don't he ever completely got over it, rather than been tired having played only half a season.

Exactly. We need to know what an offload is and what to do with it first.

I would like to see a big tough prop in the Morley/Carvel mould but I would also like to see how the play the ball/ruck area is going to be policed by the refs first. If we stay the same as this season with slow plays & a lot of laying on we need a big line breaker, if we speed up the ruck then our players are agile with a bit of pace & they will do, then give Sculthorp a go if he is available.
It is my opinion that this season we had a pack built for a quick play the ball with expansive play but we were stuffed as soon as they allowed sides to lay on more than the previous year.

He can produce magic moments in a game but sometimes is very lazy and gives away stupid penalties.

I hope we sign him on though as i'm sure his fitness could be improved
