The staff in the shop are gonna love explaining this one to everyone who phones or visits with a question about it. I wonder if they're running a sweepstake on how long it takes member if staff to snap

Simple. You take your smart card to a gate, show it a bloke through a small hole. He then presses his foot on a lever and you go through a rotating gate. Magic.

I think you're wrong James...from reading that blurb it says you pay your £50 to become a member and then this entitles you to apply for cheap season tickets (meaning it costs £180 for one person, £155 for two people etc) as per the following from the website...great for families to be fair but not for the likes of me, Iain, GT and plenty of other die-hards.
How The Scheme Works
1) One family member simply purchases a Family Membership for £50 – this gives their immediate family* a membership card each
2) All members can then buy a season ticket at a hugely discounted rate– adults pay the equivalent of as little as £10 a game, concessions £5 per game and juniors just £2 per game (click link below for full pricing details)
3) Every Season Ticket Holder will receive a free 2010 Away Replica Jersey (while stocks last)
4) Members use their smartcard to access the stadium
*T&Cs apply. Family Membership for £50 covers immediate family – up to two adults (parents /guardians) and any number of children living in the same household. Address will be verified.

So last year we spent £140 each on season tickets,
this year we spend £130 +£130 +£50
so ours will be £310 for the coming seaosn
rather than £280 paid last year?
I'm sorry but this is just exploting the loyal fans who want to support the club by paying in advance. Every year we miss some games due to hols. Can anyone explain why this is a great deal for those who either don't have kids or they have grown up?
