While ever that joke club Celtic Crusaders resides in Superleague.........................the RFL would look a bit mean turning us down.
In other words we are not the only joke club already in existence, so one more can't hurt..

We may have been perceived as a joke by many inside and outside Rugby- League
for a good deal of our 50 plus years of existence, but when it get’s to a point where
the few dedicated loyal fans start using such phrases then our survival of the next
50 years looks very bleak indeed.

If we manage to survive this time around(and its no done deal yet)
then I’d be very surprised if its not the last chance the Rugby-League ever give us.

If the deal is given the go-ahead then let’s be realistic here,it’s going to take us
the best part of a decade of hard work by everyone connected with the club
just to rid it of the bad image most potential Rugby-League fans in Doncaster associate with the club .

We don’t want to be known as the “Joke” club anymore.
We want the people of Donny and the surrounding area to be proud to watch their hometown team,
we especially want the youth of Doncaster to support the Dons.
Too many people living in Doncaster travel every weekend to Leeds,Castleford,Wakey and the likes—
we have to give them a reason to stay and watch the Dons-even if it takes ten years to achieve that.

Rugby–League has to be run as a business now and we certainly need people with business know-how
playing a big part in the running of the club—let’s hope that’s included in Carl’s plan for the future –
the fans who follow the team week in week out need to be listened to by the club and it wouldn’t hurt
the club to be more open with the fans. The only way the club can/will survive (if its given the chance)
is for the fans and the club to work together.

i tell you what would be good to hear from the new board, if we're lucky enough to be in a position to have one - some realistic ambitions.

all the talk of a super league place was - let's be honest - utter crap - a wholly unattainable pipedream that just left recriminations, accusations and financial devastation when it predictably failed to materialise - what a waste of time, goodwill and so much money that pathetic tilt at a non-existant windmill was - you had to be a moron to think it ever had any chance of working out !

how about a board who stand up at their first press conference and say that in five years they want to be an established second tier club, playing in front of regular gates of a couple of thousand, making the last sixteen or so of the challenge cup every know and then with a team of predominantly local lads who play for the shirt and enjoy their sundays, as does everyone else associated with the club. the pride would come from seeing donny lads step up to the big league, and when they've made it, to hear them on boots'n'all saying that they owe it all to "carl and everyone at the keepmoat who set me on the right road", or whatever

when every one of those entirely deliverable promises has been made good, then reassess things, aim higher, budget accordingly, plan for the future, nurture the local amateur game and maybe dare to dream of another season in the sun that would be the reward for the graft that went before, but in the certain knowledge that it's always going to prove unsustainable in the long term

that's all i ever wish for the club - realistic ambitions, realistic targets, real rugby and real fans - not some over-hyped cock and bull quick fix of tawdry low budget wannabe superleague drivel that's doomed to fail on the unsustainable greed of some clueless marking lovers

blue and gold, playing the game for the love of it - that'll do me :?

buckton - buckton and noble - there's some sort of moustache thing going on there....

Heard the other day.....pub talk possibly.....that some folk with decent money are being put off investing due to the existence of a certain member of personnel.

Spot On

In my opinion if the RFL give us the go-ahead the above quote (without the substitution )
should be Printed out-Framed and Hung for all to see in the new board-room before the start of next season.

Great post, if you go and talk too any investor or potential investor I have spoken to you have almost quoted me word for word I share all the same views as your goodself.

S/O
As for investors wanting to put serious money in we have been down that road before and look where it has got us, quick fix glory so not really interested if they don't want to jump on our ship, for what ever reason they don't want to invest doesn't faze me, we have some very successful business men on board already to take this club forward, and let me assure you all we will die trying to make this a club we can all be proud of.

We have signed three lads who all have great careers ahead of them in the game,
Liam Brown (backrow), Simon Brown(halfback) both from Leeds Rhinos these two have seen how coming to the Dons kick started Luke Burgess and Luke Gales careers and I can see them going the same way after a season or two with us, and also a tough prop from Hull in Paul Shaw, these are all at the right age and hungry to make a name for themselfs so we welcome them with open arms, I have also sent 13 contracts out to players this week so real excited about the future of the Dons on the playing side this will all be left to Tony, my focus is on getting things right off the field and will be doing this by surrounding myself and picking the business knowledge from the group of investors I have assembled.

Will update you all next week with the news re take over,

Carl Hall.

Just hope the Supporters Trust can grow and one day take over the club or at least have a say !
