Ainscough put up from £10,000 to £30,000
This to me seem like decent wages for young players I don't even see us using up Smiths money I still think we have around £100,000 to play with plus whatever Bailey is on (If he goes) which is rumoured to be £100,000 plus and a quota spot, we could get a superstar for £200,000 and a quota spot.
Add to that Flannagans money which would probably be around £20,000
Coley and Pryce have signed extensions which I very much doubt are improved deals especially in the case of Pryce.
Rumour has it that Bailey has signed a much lower deal with us.
There is no way in hell we haven't got the funds available to buy new players starting with a prop (Morley, LMS, Burgess,Ferriol, Guissett, Kite, Bailey, Webb, Moi Moi etc), then a prop/second row (Burgess, Webb, Pritchard, Fa'aoso) and finally if there are funds available a 6/7 (Brough, Orford, Anasta).
Lets just say Bailey takes a drop from £140,000 to £80,000 add to that Hocks money you have £200,000 so if we don't sign a decent player I will be dissapointed.
It said in todays Sun that Danny Brough wil be looking at moving to a bigger club to improve his chances of playing for England.
Feasable signings for next year Richard Fa'aoso, LMS and Brough.
I know what you are trying to get at, but please. These are all hypothetical’s.
We simply do not know what the score is financially. Nor do we know what is happening on the transfer front.
I know this, you know this and everyone else knows this.
Let’s be patient and wait to see what happens.
What's the rumpus, Tom?

First, Hock was on 100k. Second, Mossop will be on a much MUCH bigger wage than 25k i'd imagine, he's one of the few who's played enough games in this league to show he can cope, and if he gets a new deal it'll be on the basis that he is a first teamer now.
I'll give that Coley and Pryce should [and hopefully are] on much lower deals, and if Bailey resigns it will be on a much reduced salary. There should be room if you take Baileys wage/reduction in wage into account, but i think people are underestimating the wage rise that's been given to Mossop, Tomkins, Ainscough + co.

Ainscough will stay on thats fo sure, prob get a 3 year deal.
Current thoughts - Mago out or get running up them plantations, get fit or get rid. Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal. Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.

I know round about how much some players are on and if you take into account the average wage for the average superleague player which is £60,000 a year I can't see how Mossop who has only made his debut this season and is a young lad can be on any more than £20,0000 to £30,000 max, Tomkins a bit more from £30,000 to £50,000 max.
At the end of the day like tugglesf78 said 'Everybody knows we have got a significant amount of cash to play with to bring a decent player in, maybe we have already signed Webb and he has been given a visa but IL is waiting for the season to end then announce the new coach and let the new coach unveil Webb and take the credit rather than say Noble?
If we have spent a lot of the money upgrading the younsters contracts then hats off to IL I am a big fan of what he is doing but even so there still should be enough for a decent new player or two.

If he goes now I WOULD blame him - for being an idiot and not being able to see past the end of his nose.
He has been treated poorly this season, but Noble and his crowd are going. All the young lads are having their wages upgraded. If Ainscough doesn't know that yet, he's listening to the wrong people.
Wigan is now a club that values and promotes its youngsters. Did you not see the interview with Shaun Wane on the website two days ago? The guy is bubbling about the club's new policies regarding its home-grown talent.

Unless Wigan have been involved in a real arm-wrestle to get the new guy - i.e. if it's someone pretty good, and it's taken masses of prolonged negotiation - then there won't be much excuse for the delay. If it turns out it's someone like Shaun Wane, who - promising though he may be - has been here all along and could have been appointed straight away, then it's going to be as bewildering as it's disappointing.
The problem with announcing SW as coach mid-season is that it undermine's Brian Noble's position as the head coach at the moment - who would the players listen to?
If BN and SW disagree on something does the player risk being dropped this season for not following BN's instructions or risk annoying the coach of the 2010 squad which he'll be playing in.
Unless it's someone from outside the club I think they've done the right thing in not announcing anything just yet.

I don't think Shaun has been treated badly this season.
Shaun started off the season well and there is no doubting his finishing. But he was badly exposed defensivley, as the season went on. He became a bit of a liability and with the emergance of Phelps as FB, Noble played Richards and Roberts on the wing, more experienced pairing. Shaun's time will come he just has to be patient.

He will stay and he has been treated very well by the Club this season by the way. And he knows that and that is what matters.

Hang on a minute. Wasn't this pointed out to IL by an outspoken fan at the last Fans Forum, only for IL to sneer at him by suggesting that his contract was extended mid season. He was then asked by the fan why it wasn't announced and IL stated it had been online at the time...??
Could this be more "BS" or a case of IL getting mixed up whilst on centre stage?
