I made the right decision! Called in at Rochdale Mayfield en route to St Helens to see Normanton chalk up their first win of the season despite having a few out.

Unfortunately the second match of the day didn't go as well.

The referee impressed me at Mayfield today. He treated the players with respect, difused some heated moments at the end and controlled the game well without being the centre of attention. A pleasure to go away from a game with positive things to say about the referee (and a stark contrast to four hours later at Knowsley Road!)
