Back in the day of American-style nicknames (96-98 etc), I thought if we had to changed names, Hull Kingston Cobras had a good sound to it.

Seemed to remember we were niled that day too.
I'd just got back the day before after 7 months away at sea and was full of optomism for the match.

Why the merger talk?
Why would we ,as the number one club in the city merge with our lesser rivals?.
We kept our identity , said NO to the merger, never ever forget we did it on our own merit,we won promotion to the Super League after winning a Grand Final we believed .
No handouts, no merger, no shiny new stadium, we have our own identity , we have our "home", but most of all we have our pride and dignity because we did it all on our own, unlike Gateshull Est.1999.

Aye, when my mates granddad had his ashes scattered on the old CP, I don't think ending up under the deli counter at Morrison's was quite what he had in mind.
If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.
