Watch the famous Barbarians v NZ Union match from 1973. Bevan had already starred for both Wales and British Lions at the time and less than 18 months later he was picking up the CC for Wires. Over 10 years stirling service, trophies, finals and over 200 tries.
6 foot two, eyes of blue, big John Bevan's after you, nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah, nah nah
Oh, and John Woods was quality too!
"phil ford, he's a bit of a stepper

Watched it last week again -on tape.
Still one of the best matches of either code I've ever seen, with the top try as well.
Best of all time - has to be Brian Bevan by a country mile.
Never saw him play, but of those I did, I'd go for Jiffy
Also in the reckoning are Steve Hesford, Alex Murphy, Sir Les, Alfie Langer, Joey (OK only 3 matches), and I agree about Lee Briers as Rogue mentioned.
(Also thought Bob Jackson was awesome along with Dessie).

There's names on this thread of players who had their brief stint with us on big money then disappeared winning nothing and leaving us none the better.
How about signing a 19 year old Briers from Saints in 1997...? I've never been one to bang the Briers drum but respect is due, he should be one of the first names on a thread like this.
I agree with your point about short term players Sally but I think you should have a word with yourself over Briers. Anyone who has gone missing as much as he has in matches surely cannot be considered on a thread like this. Under Smith I'm the first to eat my words and admit he's been impressive each game and his attitude has been spot on.
I don't think you can say this for other seasons though.
