That mirrors my views, I started feeling that way the season we were relegated.
I used to go week in week out and was always on these forums checking for news. The season we went down i started to realise that Rugby was heading the same way as football - teams full of mercenaries in it for the money, Coley's behavior especially made me loose a lot of enthusiasm.
Then we went down and i found myself bored to tears even though we were winning every week (surely we had the quality above our rivals to entertain then?), 1 man rugby returned.
This season I only went in the 1st half of the season (the football style Myler rubbish ruined the season for me) and it was the same 1 man rubbish until we were loosing then we started to chuck the ball about gave the half back a chance to get into the game and looked good - i was almost entertained.
Maybe we have been spoiled by the characters we've had playing at Salford over the years - shocking teams but individuals who could put a smile on your face and make it worthwhile watching a hammering. Players like Tex, Gibbo, Baynes, Edwards, Young, Naylor, Williams, Sini, Forber, Lee, Hancock - none of them world beaters but all entertainers.
I'll probably do the same next season - watch a few games early on then if its still rubbish i'll not bother wasting my money.
I know what your saying and in some ways i feel the same but the reason i still turn up week after week is because when we do finally turn the corner and get back to competing in playoff positions i can say i was there for the worst and im here for the best.
when we went down the 1st time we were awful, that hurt me more than the last relegation because i felt the players were good enough at the time to stay up, we went on a journey with harrison which wasnt paticually entertaining built on good defence and disaplined play which reached its pinnacle in our playoff season, all the seasons of watching salford struggle and continue to let me down before were worth that one season.
I actually missed the bradford playoff game so i never reaily got any closure on that season which is one of them things.
The next season we went from hero to zero and went down back to where harrison started, rugby league has changed imo from then, its more proffessional and its all about
WINNING now its a stuggle to entertain and win.
Mcrae is different to any other salford coach ive known because he has won a major trophy as a coach, might have been a while ago but more than any other salford coach in my life time.
Winners breed Winners, personally it doesnt bother me if players fall out/unhappy with the way is being run,
put your real medals on the table and we'll compair and we dont have a lot of money and Mcrae has to work with what he has got, if it had been me LF id have been glad he'd answered me honestly, our squad isnt packed full of individals who can entertain and win,
win 1st win ugly if you have to but
win
If we had a bucket full of cash like warrington last season i can guaraneee Mcrae would have probably gone and bought another 5 or 6 players of the same quality he did last season and we'd be in the playoffs this season.
Unfortunately we dont have a bucket full of cash (we barely own a bucket at the moment

) so its a gradual build just like Harrison did getting rid of a few and bringing quality in..
What we are lacking is a Clinch or Dunnerman figure who will take us to the next level, it doesnt have to be a halfback as with Rachford, and the 2 smiths we have quality there just somebody who will make the difference who will allow us to win the game.
Hull Fc came from the same position we are at now and the person who took them to the next level jason smith, he took them to the next level got them believing which ended them winning a challenge cup and getting to a grandfinal ??
They got their new stadium and the wheels fell off because of complacency and bad management off the field and now they are stuggling
Ill put up with this style of play to see a salford player crash over under the posts in the semifinal to take us to wembley to win the challenge cup or even to get to the 2nd round of the playoffs where ive never seen us play.
Just keep the faith and we'll get back there.
