If that had happened surely Leigh would just have finished 9th out of 10 and been relegated, rather than finishing 9th out of 11 and being relegated. The rules were in place from the start of the season - I feel sorry for the Leigh supporters, but I would also have felt sorry for the Batley or Gateshead supporters had they gone down. If Leigh can keep most of their players they should come straight back up next season - good luck.

Only RL would have a system in place in which one team is exempt from relegation in the name of 'expanding the game'. The RFL becomes less credible by the day.

The rugby football league have no credibility! look at the situation at Celtic, what will they do put put them into to Newport & try again. now Leigh miss out, who will be next?
No wonder rugby union is streets ahead of rugby league, look how they dealt with Harlequins!
I have no problem with the expansion of the game but not at the expense of another grass route club.
Both Widnes & leigh are local clubs & have been s... on! yes I am sure Leigh will bounce back & yes rules are rules but it does not make it right.

The list goes on London, Gateshead & every other club thats as come & gone. sorry but I know how I would feel if it had happened to Salford.

It's no one else's fault but the club! Not getting a good enough squad together. If the shoe was on the other foot and it was us who were going down, do you think any leigh supporters would be saying it's a shame or it shouldn't be happening? dont think so.

I hope the RFL move the goalposts as they often do and Leigh retain their status in the Championship. There have been some real good games this year on sky and Leigh have played their part in a few of them. So too have Toulouse who after the embarressment of the opening day at Widnes have done pretty well and should be able to build on this next season.

So who goes down then ?
