Probably one of the best chances to make a statement and show the support for the scheme is the clubs first ever home play-off game which will be televised.
These games though historically do not provide the best of attendences.
So unless it's Cas would the club be able to promote with concessions as they have done already with success this season.
I don't know if all the gates are pooled for the play-offs and restrictions imposed on pricing but full houses certainly looks better and in the case of providing a back drop for a show of support for the stadium what could be better (apart from winning the GF!!)

Like the idea of a sporting partnership, if we could get Wakefield FC on board that would really add some go forward and give them a real shot at the big time playing in a 12000 seater stadium.
J30 will also give the city another chance at pro RU IMO. Between the 3 mentioned clubs the ground would be used 12 months a year & give the city a shot at regaining our lost sporting reputation.

This could be a groundshare we could not only live with but blossom with!

I love this city,

Would Wakefield FC want to share after the last time and how do we get a pro RU team involved when there isn't one in the area and the last one got gates south of 300?

Doesn't have to be a soccer or rugby club.

ANY sport can become part of this process as they will have the chance to help develop the plans and may be able to assist the project, and themselves, through the pooling of resources on the site.

My point exactly. However the reason i suggested soccer and RU was the size of their sport nationwide.
Wakefield FC would be foolish IMO to turn down the chance to move to j30.
The last time they shared with us yes things in the end turned sour, however this time each club would be on a level playing field. Both tenants, with an equal say in what goes on and fair use of all the facilities the area will offer.
Any club that chose to come in with us on this venture would have the same fantastic opportunity that we have. 21st century sporting facilities, which would easily attract supporters, sponsors & investors.

As for Wakefield RU, we on the whole have a tainted view of the sport, but there is a market for it IF it is pushed & promoted in the correct way. A lot of people said the same when Leeds Tykes in the 90's & look how much of a money spinner that has been for Leeds Sport. We have the likes of Quegs in our region as well as RU being taught in most high schools over RL, so there is familiarity within the region, it would just be up to WRU to re-establish themselves.

International Chairman
Why would Wakefield FC want to become tennants? They have a very nice set up at College Grove which would more than likely pass the criteria if they got promoted.

The community stadium would demand high rates which i doubt they could afford and they'd be playing in a stadium which whilst nice would be empty.

In principal i hear what your saying but being practical Wakefield FC have exactely what they need at College Grove (For the next few years anyway)

TRB; I wont be able to make it to the meeting as i'm relocating to cumbria over the weekend to do my pgce but i have had this idea for public canvasing for a while now. I posted it on a thread a few weeks ago, don't know if you saw it.

(The initial part of this take some groundwork, but could be all worth it as a visible show of support from the city)

SWAG (or representatives of) ring/visit shops & businesses within the city Centre, speak to the manager/owner telling them what we do/what we want & ask them if they too feel strongly about the lack of provisions within the city & if they wish to help us by displaying a small poster (either A4/5) in their shop window that simply say "I support a community stadium for Wakefield".

Cost's them nothing & we build up a visible show of support around the city & if we record where the posters went we acquire a list of businesses who are for our case, which we could use again, if needed for petitions and such. All this idea requires is some paper, a printer and a few people to put in some hard blagging on a few saturday afternoons. We literally paint the city Centre (the surrounding residential areas) with support for this venture.

I honestly think all that holds Wakefield back is apathy and a lack of civic pride, this project to relight the flame our city has sadly lost!

Like i said Just a idea, but i think we need people to be innovative & enthusiastic if we want this pushing through.
