In the programme note for the Bradford game (I think - I'm at work, the programme is at home, so I can't check), Hudgell talks about Rovers not being the finished article, but with a couple of 'top-drawer' signings we can continue to progress. I don't know if that is Mrs B's source, but it kind of fits.
If we'd have signed a high profile Aussie, we'd have been criticsized for not giving young British players a chance, taking the easy option etc. We do that and we're being cheap.
Tbf, when they annonunce the Jordan Turner signing I'm going on their forum, a la Hutchie, to call it a kick the teeth to Washbrook or Hall.

I think it was on a Radio Humberside interview after which game I forget now, might have been Bradford.
Oh, and btw, Corn Exchange in Leeds is open but it's never going to be as it was, they're promoting it as a foodie type place now and looking to get local producers in to go with the Antony's Café in the basement.
Yeah fair point. Must have missed it then.
Ah right, bad to hear that, used to have some decent clothes shops and stuff in there.

when they are already established players, good comparison lol

I'm not saying Cook and Hodgson were the players Hudgell had in mind when he said those things so maybe we will be signing someone else, but I can't say I'd be massively disappointed if we didn't.
I'm guessing ex test and SoO players are considered top draw?
P.s. I'm still waiting for an apology off you.

Us real fans don't look over our shoulder at our neighbours and do whatever we can to get one over on them. We look at the bigger picture. And this is the reason why Rovers are and will forever be considered a small club. Because their fans and board would rather get one over on Hull FC above anything else.
Quite sad, really!
SPOT ON!

Quite interesting that he never used this part of the quote.
Morgan added: "He's got the desire to be part of a team that's going to be pushing for trophies and we expect him to have a long Super League career in a red and white jersey."
Reminds me of someone else who's selective in thier choice of quotes

Fair enough. I suspect that if McManus told Saints fans to expect 2 top drawer signings, they'd be underwhelmed with Hodgson and Cook, though.
When you look at it another way, you're in all likelihood releasing Fitzhenry, Aizue, Gene, Esders, (I'Anson?) and have only signed Cook and Hodgson plus Taylor promoted from the academy. Highly unlikely that this is the end of your recruitment.
