Hudgell mentioned a couple of 'top-drawer' additions would be made to the squad. What constitutes 'top-drawer' is subjective and bringing in young British players with potential is something I applaud. I'm happy with the signing of Cook. I'll also be happy if we sign a hooker, but if it is Hodgson I'd think NH was guilty of a
little bit of hyperbole. I'd forgive him immediately and welcome Hodgson, but giving Mrs B a stick, even a small one, to beat us with is regrettable - there are few more tenacious.
Note to NH: stress 'youth', 'British' and 'potential' - 'top drawer' makes idiots on message boards get all over excited about Lockyer or Crocker.
Does the signing of Cook make us think it more likely be Stanley Gene's last season as a player? I suppose with Lovegrove and Netherton playing more in the front row, it ain't neccessarily so. If we are only signing two from outside the club, does that mean 2 or 3 more will be promoted from the reserves/academy? I hope so, personally.
