Putting Superleague to one side for a moment i think its worth mentioning what tremendous rugby league has been on offer in the past few days involving our local amateur teams.

For £2 we got to see an absolutley belting game between Ince and Judes followed by Wednesday nights game between Judes and St.Pats which was free of charge.

In terms of value for money you really couldnt ask for much more.

In particular i thought that both stand offs for both Pats and Judes were great to watch and in all seriouseness some of the skills on display were outstanding, particularly when you consider the weather conditions on Wednesday evening.

Thank the lord for amateur rugby league in Wigan.

I think it's also worth mentioning the crowds they got. They would put some of our NL2 sides to shame.

SAINTS THE ORIGINAL AND PERENNIAL CHEATS

For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled.

For 27 - 0 you get a trophy
For 75 - 0 you get sod all.

Wigan had eight in a row
Saints have five in a row

They should get up there then

Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

2000 at the very least for each game and the weather on Wednesday was not the best.

IF we changed the name of one of our local amateur clubs to 'Cardiff' or 'Birmingham' or 'London' they'd be fastracked into superleague.

Personally I think the level that amateur RL is at around Wigan and Leigh is nothing short of incredible.

The talent on show is fantastic and the support is second to none. I watched Ince/Judes, Pats/Miners and Miners/East and they were fantastic matches. If only some of our players played with the courage and heart some of these players do.

went to the ince vs judes game and while i agree there was a good crowd the figure quoted of 2000 is laughable there was between 500 to 600 on
the standard was decent and both teams palyed very hard although the match was spoiled a bit by the sending off{ref had no choice}and the morons sat on the garages behind the fencing who constantly hurled foul and disgusting abuse at the officials and judes players and supporters, while technically they are not on bridges property they really were an emabarresment to the club.

I love watching amature games next sat will be shevington sharks v st pats if the 2 games they played last season are anything to go by it will be a cracker
Great game of rugby league. Fantastic atmosphere, Wigan were breathtaking and dominant in all areas for the first 25 minutes, coupled with us making alot of dumb mistakes, then fortunately they brought McIlorum on which helped us back into the game. I thought some of the tries we scored to get us within two we're out of this world stuff. Towards the end we had to force it a little and we had a few things go wrong, i.e Monas kick on the first for King and Solomona going off who was causing havoc. Wigan were clinical in their eventual execution of us. Proud of Wire today and gave us a little glimpse to the future. Silverwood was awful as per, but I expect no less. Tomkins is a world class player and by far the best english player in SL. Wigan are a champion side and would be a worthy winner of taking our title as challenge cup. Good luck over the next month and a bit.
