Leeds will have seven of their first choice seventeen not eligible to play for any home national side and that is an increase on the recent Headingley situation. That I find ironic at a time that the overseas trained allowance is being reduced year on year.
The fact that leeds are increasingly looking overseas highlights a partial failure of their own much vaunted Academy production line.
i disagree,
i certainly dont think that losing donald or kylie and replacing them with british would damage us a huge amount,
there wouldnt be a huge drop from Donald to putting say watkins, broughton, ratu on the wing, and Hall has done a sterling job as the strike winger
i dont think the team would suffer much from swapping kyle for say a Scruton, or another couple of british props who are about,
that would bring us down to five,
then if we think Diskin has won 3 grand finals, he would do fine as the sole hooker for leeds, Buderus for mine was, and is 'the icing on the cake' fantastic icing made with the best ingredients but still, icing!
the only three who i would worry about losing are Webb who is a fantastic player, best FB in SL for mine, but i think BJB in 2/3 years will be ready to step up, maybe not to webbs level, but certainly to the level of being top 3-4 in the league,
Eastwood who i really rate, and Ali who is the type player britain simply doesnt and hasnt in my lifetime produced!
Delany, Donald, Kylie are whats wrong with SL, these are decent players, nothing great or groundbreaking but decent. If they were English they would be lauded as one of the best in the world, leading their value to rocket and their value for money to plummett,
there are 4-5 british players as good if not better than those three, yet they will all be paid a huge amount more than Donald, Kylie or Delany, for example, i would expect players like Gardner or Raynor to be on a fair bit more than Donald, Scruton is probably on a fair bit more than Kylie and Yeaman and Shenton on more than Delany
