Why are people talking about Flanagan staying? His Girlfriend has a job, he has (allegedly) signed a contract and his flights are probably booked.

Bloody hell, I heard strong rumours but didn't know it was confirmed. I guess a backrow of Hansen, Tomkins and O'Loughlin with Mossop on the bench and Farrell in the reserves isn't terrible but another year for Bailey would certainly strengthen it. If we can keep him and get the prop we want I would but otherwise we'll have to make do, the front row is far too weak to not bring anyone in unless Fielden shocks us all.

Tim Sheens saying he was looking forward to coaching him in the League Express was all the confirmation I needed.

That is the key issue IMO. Before he picked this up I was expecting him to be re-signed with Hock being unavailable. Now I am not sure.

Isn't this injury serous enough to keep him sidelined well into next season? I haven't seen anything mentioned about how long he would be out except for the rest of this season.

There is no guarantee he will make a full recovery from this so any contract he may get needs lots of conditions about his fitness factored in. If he will be out for months I am not sure it would be worth the risk.

A factor many have ignored. Not sure the extent of the injury. I know he has damaged his achilles tendon.

Not replacing Phil Bailey and Gareth Hock would leave us backwards from where we are this season. We need to strengthen in this area if we are going to let Phil go.
