This is what pis*es me of about Salford not what we do on the field but how we are run as a club of it how hard is it to make a few phone calls and organise a minutes silence total numpties at the club.

The club have to write to R.F.L to get permission for the minutes silence, & when that is agreed then the Ref's boss to be informed & then the ref. When they all agree, they then have to ask the opposing team's officials/coach's to ok it. Its not just a matter of "ok, we will do it" from the club, its like everything, there is certain protocol to adhere to.

Would have been a nice gesture but, as posted, just not a case of doing it.

Sorry but this is a pi$$ poor excuse.
We live in a electronic age where all the above could be done in 1 hr.
Why would the opposing team or coach reject a request for a local hero to be respected.
And all the ref has to do for it is blow a whistle
Red tape, health and safety etc etc it is getting beyond a joke in this country.

I have worked out in Afghanistan as a comms contractor for almost 4 years (after 23 years in the army). I will attend Simons repatriation ceremony in Bastion over the next few days - wearing my Salford top.

Unfortunately these ceremonies are getting more and more frequent lately - they are all equally as sad. My heart goes out to his new wife, his family and friends.

I hope the Club change their mind about the minutes silence, it would be a nice gesture if they could.

RIP

Hey, dont take it out on me!!!!!!!!!! I only found all this out a few weeks ago when it was requested for a Salford fan, & I didn't realize it took so much to organise.
Im not just sticking up for the club here, but if you have a gripe about it e-mail the Rugby League & ask them why it takes so much to sort out before you blame the club.

My husband is serving with the fusiliers out in Afghanistan at the moment and for selfish reasons the minutes silence would have been hard for me. We have lost 4 from the regiment in 24 hours including one who's wife I am friends with. I did not know this lad but it makes it doesn't make it any better.

However, when Princess Diana died we held a minutes silence that afternoon (a sunday so not chance of post or emails to an office). I can't believe that any match official or the opposing team would have any objections to this happening and I think it is a poor show that these things cannot be done. As has been mentioned previously surely a phone call or email would be enough. If the RFL insist on letters being written then maybe they should be spending their time a little more wisely and sorting the game out instead of putting obstacles in the way of clubs paying their respcts to people in this manner.

If the club cant do it in time ,then let us the fans try by our selfs, as soon as the whistle blows for the game to start then lets all stand for one minute silens, ok not everybody will know about it but them that come on here will and just pass the word once in the ground what we planning to do, make one or two banners if it can be done in time that is explaning what were gonna do, i would even foot the bill, if not that then give out leaflets telling people that as one of our local lads has died and we as supporters are gonna hold a minuets silence, what you all think

Sorry , just read it back looks like not enough full stops and comers,( takes deep breath) also would just like to add that the club are not at fault with this, its not there fault that red halls have so much red tape.
