the problem with the advertising is volume and consistency. i have students working for me from salford uni and they haven't heard about the club and their supposed to be a partner? our main sponsors are the Trafford centre you wouldn't know when you go there.
there simply not doing the basics anywhere near well enough and thats way before you start looking at who your booking for half time.

Yeah a ground between Brookhouse and Irlam must be like Utopia compared to weaste.
The fans, the members, the people there.. from the day I stepped foot onto that field at the AJ Bell Stadium,I knew I would love that club for the rest of my life. "Jackson Hastings"..

Im sure a shop in Monton,Eccles,Walken or the Height wouldnt cost anywhere near that.
Monton, The height and Walkden would not generate much interest. Monton is full of Curry houses and nail Bars.
I was suggesting the Trafford Centre did a deal (i.e pay little or nothing) the shops are empty. The money should not be all or nothing, this wouldn't count in the cap, and the RFL could be partners in it (bear most of the cost)

The trafford centre isnt going to happen, money is everything and if the RFL would take most of the cost they would want to have a controlling say ie it would become a Rugby league shop not a Salford city reds shop which would benefit the sport but not us as the new "fans" would just pick a winning team, we need a shop where people go, You would get passing trade in all of the areas at present people go to the club shop make a special effort to get there as its the club shop and nothing else on a non match day.
Stick a shop/cafe bar in a town centre like walken or Eccles and you'll get people popping in as its easier access, the Height would be a contender, near a college/schools, students might get interested at dinner time if we can get a tie up with them with student offers somewhere to go friday night, its on a main road lots of cars driving past.
It might be a lot of money to rent a shop there perhaps for 12 months to see if it takes off, i did have a chat with the new guy at the start of the season he wanted to know where the "Centre" of salford was where everyone goes, its a good question as we dont have one imo.

Whatever it cost in Monton etc... it wouldn't matter cos no one would go to it. It's a big enough pain having to go to the club shop for stuff it'd be even worse somewhere else where you have to find parking etc..

What I said was - that visitors are put off be the reputation of the area round The Willows - and that a shiny new stadium in a new development will improve the perception - no way was I implying anything about any area being better or worse - but if any areas are ever to improve then there has to be investment

I agree with all of the above, it just gets me when people have a go at the Weaste area when there are lots of other areas IN Salford that would be very hard pushed to poke a stick at Weaste...
