Yes, it meant myself and about 90 others were out of a job on June 30th.
Luckily, I'm back in work again now, but it certainly felt a very underhand way to go about things with their "Off the shelf" company buying out the original company.
I was assistant manager at the Crewe branch, so was doing pretty well for myself there commission wise. But anyway, that's in the past, I just heard a whisper that the rest of the company had disappeared into the mists.
Martin Dawes himself sold his other businesses for quite a good few million, Martin Dawes Solutions and Martin Dawes Communications. They've kept the name, but they aren't actually part of Martin Dawes itself as such.
I did go and take a look at Westbrook yesterday and saw the shop was still trading, although it certainly wasn't busy.
Anyway, guess they're still going, so the stand name will be remaining for a while.
Would agree though, it was nice having the Billy Boston stand at Central Park, to have a Brian Bevan stand at Warrington would be a fitting honour for another RL legend.
