would you guys prefer no promotion/relegation and guarenteed super league status

or would you rather have a potential relegation battle on the cards?

Erm, the stability of the former but the excitement of the latter. On balance, stability edges it.

P & R any day, to be honest I'm losing interest in the game, there is nothing to play for...it is now being transformed into a joke, where Sky are the only ones laughing, Look at our crowd against Catalan
anyone remember what it was year we got relegated ? I guess it was a lot more.
Out of the top 6 in your div...which is is the most open Ive seen in many a year only, you & Wids would have a chance of gaining Prom in 2 years time....Thats if they have the bottle to relegate any one !

I agree with Stu nothing like a last minute winner to keep your team in a division, the only good thing about no p and r is it gives the players job security i surpose then its upto the player how much they want to achieve rather than the fear of them losing their jobs

Guaranteed SL status.

I can't see what's good about relegating a team so that they lose most of their squad and either go bankrupt (Oldham, Workington, etc.) or walk the NL, get promoted and have to start from scratch in SL (Salford).

I can't see what's good about promoting a team from a mostly part time competition to a much harder, full time competition and not giving them any time to settle in, making them out and out favourites for relegation.

I can't see what's good about a club importing a load of overseas players and/or taking players on loan to avoid the drop.

I can't see what's good about coaches being too afraid of playing young, home grown players for fear of relegation.

I can't see what's good about having NL clubs bankrupting themselves to get a one year shot at SL.

And this 'relegation battle' is a bit of a myth. There wasn't one last time we were relegated. We were gone way before the end of the season.

What Red John said.

And relegation is not just about players losing their jobs, it has a massive negative effect on the off-field staff and youth systems at a club.

In the first year since P&R were abolished we have already seen a huge increase in the number of youngsters be played in SL.

Didn't like the idea of getting rid of P&R to be honest but realise it's necessary.

And, under the current system, we haven't really got rid of P&R, just made it a 3-year cycle which takes several things into account rather than just points total.

 Love him or hate him, 163 consecutive appearances should make Stuart Littler a Salford legend in anyone's book

No, I've always been in favour of franchising. The cider's just a way of blunting the pain of watching Salford.

Excellent post Red John, you talk far too much sense for this board
