This is a mindset that we simply have to change.
It's a form of petulant arrogance that led one particular Wigan fan, who no longer posts on here, to make repeated statements to the effect that only the very best in the world were good enough for Wigan.
Sure, it's desirable to have players like that - but these days you're only going to get them now and then. The past is gone; that era will never return as long as there's a salary cap.
Meanwhile, we SHOULD be looking at players like Griffin, who are performing very well in a team that is way better than us.

The SC means that players like Coley, Phelps, Griffin and any young player who has come through your academy can be just as valuable as an expensive overseas player.
Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good - sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league - Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate - the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever - Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go - Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know - FIOS

Friday showed that Coley and Prescott aren't the problems with our front row. They've both stepped up this year and are easily good enough to get on longer contracts.
The problems always come when Fielden and Feka come on, this coupled with the lack of a specialist hooker on the bench. I think Riddell not being on the pitch also has a much larger impact than most people notice, and when he's not there just blame it on fielden and feka. Saying that, they were both cr ap on saturday.

I do feel that if McIlorum had been fit for the Semi we would have done better, when Riddell was off, we were effectively rudderless, I couldn't tell who was meant to be acting as Stand Off (O'Loughlin or Flanagan I think). The multiple shifts we've had to do has affected the team quite a bit.
Reading todays league express and weekly it looks like bailey will be getting a new deal and it was saying there might not be any more new signings.
Also mentioned that you went after Karmichael hunt but he wanted £480,000 and il wasn't prepared to pay that.

No f**king wonder
A quarter of the cap on 1 player. Dont make me laugh
Great game of rugby league. Fantastic atmosphere, Wigan were breathtaking and dominant in all areas for the first 25 minutes, coupled with us making alot of dumb mistakes, then fortunately they brought McIlorum on which helped us back into the game. I thought some of the tries we scored to get us within two we're out of this world stuff. Towards the end we had to force it a little and we had a few things go wrong, i.e Monas kick on the first for King and Solomona going off who was causing havoc. Wigan were clinical in their eventual execution of us. Proud of Wire today and gave us a little glimpse to the future. Silverwood was awful as per, but I expect no less. Tomkins is a world class player and by far the best english player in SL. Wigan are a champion side and would be a worthy winner of taking our title as challenge cup. Good luck over the next month and a bit.
We need a Prop, if we resign Bailey and are unable to sign a Prop we may as well get set for another season of disappointment, our only hope if we do bring in a new coach is he can get some life back into Fielden.
Unofficially the most boring poster on Cherry and White.

I have no problem with Lenagan saying we'll stick with the same squad because theres nobody out there of the right quality if thats actually the case.
If it turns out that teams over here sign good props from down under(or here for that matter) and we miss out on them because we weren't prepared to pay the wages then i really worry for the future.
Alot of people have said that Lenagan has been here for a couple of seasons now and from the day he came here it was obvious we were lacking in the front row and still nothings been done about it.
