We have over the last three seasons finished with a similar record in the league and have reached a few semi finals but have frozen in all of them and lost as a consequence. This inability to win even one semi makes a mockery of claims he knows how to coach in big games.
To my mind this is the level at which Noble can take us and he cannot take us further. He has had plenty of time to mould the squad to fit his purpose and has done so with no advancement. Losing narrowly at the end of the day is still losing so not getting thumped but still losing is not enough improvement.
We are told we are going with the same squad next season so the squad will have the same strengths and weaknesses. Most fans agree that the squad is not that far off being competitive and that we should do better with the players we have. Though many may want the likes of Fielden, Feka, Riddell and Roberts to go immediately they are here for next season at least and that will not change.
The one thing we can change is the coach as we have the option of letting him go. In my opinion we need to let him go, even should this mean having a caretaker for next season if the right man can only come in 2011. We aren't winning trophies and can't be relegated so would have little to lose with a stop gap. As someone said on another thread Noble will go now or at the end of 2010 so continuity with him is a dead duck. Having a new coach whether permanent or caretaker next year with the same squad will show us as a club whether the squad is up to the task or whether the coach is doing the best he can with a poor squad. Having a new coach will also allow us to see whether the likes of Feka and Fielden can improve given new coaching ideas and methods and thus whether they should stay or go. Look at the difference a new coach has made to Mathers.
Noble has to go and then we can start to build immediately for next season and for 2011 and beyond.
If he truely only wants a one year deal with no room for him to carry on should we kick on, its a pointless thing.
The onyl thing we need to remember with regards Noble is that everyone agrees we are lacking some props and a scrum half, I defy any coach to be successful with the mess we have in those positions currently!!
That being said, we need a new coach and some players for next year and NOW Mr Chairman.
I've changed my mind over Noble after the Warrington semi defeat.
Wrong team selection and wrong tactics. However all these could have been overcome if our props had won their game over Wire's front row.
We all know Noble has identified props and IL said at the FF he'd looked at six. None were deemed good enough for Wigan.
We'd gone after Carvell & Lynch and failed to land them.
So where does IL leave Noble after saying all that? He leaves him with props that aren't good enough to get past a semi or final eliminator.
The problem is that our current props are not good enough, of which Noble only brought one into the club, and that our Chairman is unable sign the right calibre of prop.
So we lose again in a semi which was very winnable.

Makes a change someone else posting this instead of me...For me Noble should go..if what IL has reportedly said ie no new signings for next season..then we need a coach who can do more with what we've got.

Unless they can reinvent Feka & Fielden we have no chance.

I wonder whether a lot of Fielden's problems come from the fact he's only ever been coached by Noble, perhaps a change of coach may really benefit Stuart. Oh and yes Noble out for me.
Wigan vs Leeds finals aggregate score.
Wigan 178 - 64 Leeds
Wigan wins - 6 Leeds wins - 0
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass, and I am all out of bubblegum.
Don't you struggle. Don't you fight. Don't you worry, cause it's your turn tonight!
I don't think anything would change if we did find a new coach, at the end of the day where still stuck with players like fielden and feka, I'm not sure a
new coach would inprove anything without a few players being released and fresh blood brought in, that's my opinion anyway.

Noble has to go - end of. He's had his chance but hasn't taken us anywhere in the past 3 yrs. Semi finals is not good enough and the performances at the beginning of this season were shambolic. If IL hand s him a new contract then he should think about his position too...
