Of course but they had their money troubles and couldn't afford to keep some of these players and couldn't afford to turn down bids for them from within league and from Union.
They've had to replace them with cheaper versions that haven't done the business for them.
If McNamara had the same group of players as the previous bosses had he'd have them right up near the top of the league imo. He's got the worst backline in superleague to work with at the moment which isn't doing him any favours.
Noble flanked by Lam/Wane would at least provide some new voices in his ears. If we could get rid of Forshaw it might help as well, still, without 2 props and a 7 we are screwed.

He didnt say we havent agreed to sign anyone, a technicality but there is a difference.
Wigan are not allowed to sign off contract players until 1st sept when the official deadline for players to talk legally to other clubs passes.
We ,may have pre-contract agreements in place but nothing signed until after 1st sept
I am pretty sure IL has looked at many players but is not willing to pay the money. IL needs to pull another Gleeson out of the hat. LMS should be signed for next season at least. Ben Davies should be brought into the first team.
Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good - sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league - Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate - the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever - Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go - Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know - FIOS
Personally i think IL is doing the right thing, so what if we have to have a year of no new signings, look at the signings this year they have hardly set the team alight, maybe with a settled team we will start to win things. With reguards to the prop situation we have him already at the club in Mossop, he's already hitting super league at a pace so imagine him in 2011 with 1 and a half years experience under his belt? By 2012, Hock will be back, we will have got rid of Fielden and have a decent prop to play along side Mossop and we could be looking at a team of:
Phelps
Roberts
Gleeson
Goulding
Richards
Sam
New 7
New 8
Leuluai
Mossop
Hock
Joel
O'Loughlin
Feka
Prescott
McIlorum
Farrell
With players like Farrell, McIlorum, Prescott, Joel, Mossop, Sam, Goulding, Phelps all getting better as they get more experience and still being young we could really be looking at a dominant team for the next couple of years. (if we manage to get the right coach)
