Interceptions give you several yards start over the opposition and it wasn't anywhere near the full length of the pitch (More like half way inside his own half). Consider Gareth Carvell's try from his own half the other week for Wire against Saints, you wouldn't play Carvell in the centres would you?
There is a difference between full stride speed and acceleration speed.
I'm talking about that speed off the mark kind of acceleration that makes the difference between regularly breaking the opponents line or not.
