Watch it on Hull FC TV it was a mile forward, you even see it in sliw motion how forward it is

whilst in motion, if you pass the ball backwards it may seem to move forward relative to the ground.
some people call it the "momentum rule"

edit: just re-watched it and it doesnt even "appear" to go forward
