Or maybe just the fact that we've only really had 2 loose forwards since being in this division. For 3 seasons we had Beswick and then Paterson came to us last year. Noone had a couple of games at 13 I think and we've tried Fletch, Duffy, Doran and even Morrison in the odd game but at the end of the day its pretty much a straight chioce between Beswick and Paterson.

Beswick had a poor 2008 after 2 top quality years.

I'd be looking at the side that first got promoted.

Simon Knox was immense in your pack and I would have Barry Eaton over Webster simply because he was more consistant.

Phil Cantillon would be in at 9 and Smith at 13. For a hooker to score 40+ tries in a season was phenominal.

To put players in the just because their face fits after 15 games this season isn't right until they have shown their true colours in the black and white.

Penny is quick, but it would be an insult to the likes of Gaskell, Blanch and Weston IMHO! Defensively, he is poor and he isn't even a Widnes player!

The question is about the National Leagues, not the old NFP.

Knoxy, Cantillon, Agar, Demetriou would be shoe-ins for mine if we're talking pre-SL. 8)

Its all the bloody same!!!!

Don't get the 7000 derby crowds now though, which proves how much damage SL had done to both out teams IMHO.

Hopefully (If we stay up), them figures could be rekindles with a very good Leigh side in 2010. For what I have heard, we will be very competative!

Long live NFP!!

Doc Holliday wrote:He thought he, along with Terry O'Connor and Barrie McDermott should not have been playing against smaller clubs and should have been saved for the big games only. He was supposed to have been injured, but two different specialists could find nothing wrong. Apart from paying that big outstanding tax bill thereby saving the club from going bust in 2006, the best thing Steven Vaughan did was get rid of Peachey, who was a drain on the finances of Widnes.
And when he went, no other club in the UK came in for him which says a lot. He was a big name, but on the field for Widnes he was no Sprogger.

He just had to settle for an NRL contract instead!

He did, but as Vaughan said "He might be the best player in the league, but when he's sitting next to me in the stand - his isn't!"

As someone said on another messageboard: "I'll be able to tell the grandkids I was there on the day David Peachey ripped Batley apart!"

I've put Dodd at full back because he's done far more for the team than either Grix and Peachey and his all round game and composure has improved immensely this season. We'd be unstoppable with that team and the pack would cause plenty of damage.
