FWIW, my thought's on Friday's match.
1) The better team won. Cas made the most of few chances created by either team and we didn't.
2) Hewer & TJ's were dreadful. Far too many offsides & instances of layng on at the PTB. At least 2 of the penalties (holding down when we made a clean break & flop by Cas player (Chase?) which looked like it involved the forearm should have resulted in yellow cards but Hewer bottled it.
3) Didn't think our pack did enough to get us into the field postion where we could hurt Cas. This made our HB's ineffective as without the forward momentum we struggled to create many decent try scoring opportunities (no poop sherlock!)
4) The abuse Myler got was a disgrace. I had a pop at one of our fans who singled him out. Like I said earlier we had no go forward so Myler & Smith both failed to get into the game. To hurl abuse at Myler (as dozens of fans decided to do) was bang out of order. I hate the whole Myler saga as much as the next fan but some of the stuff on Friday was uncalled for.
5) Stef needs to go back to 6/7 and either Myler or Smith dropped. If Mcrae decides Myler's head is not on it then drop him and play Smith. If not, get Smith on the bench, bring Walton in to the Centre and play Stef & Myler at HB.
6) As mentoned on here the "kick-out" that never was baffled me. If the player purposely kicked the ball out on the full in his own 20m area does that not result in a penalty? Forgive me if I'm wrong but I thought that was the ruling.
All in all, not the greatest game against a well drilled Cas outfit. With a couple of minor tweaks we could have won a game that we really didn't play well in. Hopefully, back to back defeats will galvanise the team to go to the HJ and turn Wire over. After all, we play better against the "MASSIVE" clubs don't we!
