The RedPlanet email I received yesterday was headed by the press release: "McRae: Goulding Was A Pleasure At The Club". Beneath it was the following advertisement:

I first thought that this ad is getting us to consider travelling west to find a pie-eater bride, but the 'match.com/free-trial' bit makes me wonder if it is suggesting an untapped resource for finding a new centre, perhaps as a free trial for the next match.

Free trial is quite an apt phrase to describe most Wigan women.

Now don't get me wrong. I'm not casting aspersions on the women in the WN postcode area. Indeed, I met some lovely local girls at the Bickershaw rock festival (a mere 37 years ago).

But on the other hand, if there happen to be one or two that might strengthen our front row...
