Looks to be Wakefield bound, they were certainly in the driving seat and close to signing him last i heard, also since then it also seems to be a bit of an open secret he has signed on the Trinity forum, the only slight doubt i have is the gagging clause he has in place with his new club.

I would be extremely disappointed if we were beaten to the signing of Tronc by Wakefield. As far as i can see there isn't really anyone of better quality readily available from there clubs or even willing to come over.

Hold on there, Jonh. Matt King was definitely Wigan-bound - but then an angel intervened and it didn't happen.
You never know, lightning could strike to our benefit twice.

Matt King declined many offers from Wigan.
Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good - sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league - Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate - the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever - Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go - Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know - FIOS

The only way Wakey would beat us to his signing is if we weren't in for him in the first place and have missed the boat.
Hopefully Lenagan saw something in him whilst watching Webb and moved to get him in. His stats this season have been superb for the NRL.

While i understand where you are coming from if Wigan were to hijack the signing it would be at a very very last minute stage.
I am also of the opinion that we are not in for him, IL has been over to see the Cowboys and must have been aware of Tronc's availability for a while now, my opinion is that we were not in for him and have in fact made our frontrow signings for 2010, and hopefully the other signings too, they simply will not be released into the public domain until we have a coach in place for 2010.

In the age of the salary cap, with most teams operating at or around the cap level, that's always going to happen. It's not a reason to commit hari-kari.
