Combined with a 106 first innings lead we're in a decent position at this stage, but obviously I'd expect that to change rather soon!

Nope, but having got into a potentially winning position - 441 in front overnight - the genius that is our captain has decided to bat on rather than declare and have a whole day to bowl Somerset out.

Is it just me, or does anyone else get the feeling that McGrath really doesn't want the job and doesn't give a sh*t any more? He was basically bribed into staying for another year when he wanted to leave, and it hasn't worked.

To be fair he's been one of the best batsman in the division the last few years, but he's never a captain.

Who SHOULD be Yorkshire captain then? Rudolph? Can't see any other candidates to be honest. Maybe Hoggard at a push?

Hoggard may well not be there next year, has had a fairly lucrative offer from Worcestershire and I think Yorkshire are only offering him one year at the most when his contract runs out in the autumn.

Personally I'd go with Rudolph in the absence of any other candidates, it's a very young side at the moment - McGrath and Kruis apart.

We've got a similar, lead-by-example player in Chapple at Lancs with a young squad of players and it seems to be working pretty well so far...I think our young players are that bit more experienced than your young players at the minute though and the new coach has also helped...you've certainly got plenty of talent for whoever takes over to be working with though.

Somerset are chasing down our 475 in 90 overs pretty easily, if we don't get a couple of wickets quickly we're gonna lose to a record chase.

Shocking, but not much a surprise given it's at Taunton and that we've had some big scores against us in 4th innings in the last couple of years, I can see why McGrath delayed declaring.

Looking very grim in terms of the table now.

Lancs now 40 points behind Durham, the only thing I think that will stop them winning again this season is England having an injury crisis and Harmison,Onions and Plunkett getting called up :D
